What's the purpose of Perpetual Grit? An explorer's blog.
"What's the point of this blog?"
Maybe you find yourself asking this question. Maybe you don't. Either way, I'm here to give you the answer!
Over the last year or so I have been searching for anything online (and I mean anything) that will give me a real idea of how some of Maryland's trails, parks, and historic areas truly are.
Yeah, there's plenty of sites out there that give you a basic rundown of what's available or show you the typical landscape photo or two, but where's the raw and dirty details? Maybe you're asking some the following questions (I know I am!)
- What is the environment like? dirty? Trash everywhere? clean? Spotless?
- Does the park FEEL safe? Yeah maybe it's in a "nice" area, but does it feel safe enough to be alone?
- How's the Parking? (I never see anything about the parking!!) If I show up and every spot is full, where do I go?
- How's the path quality? Do I have to trek through a bunch of foliage? is it a defined dirt path? Paved path?
- Are fellow explorers' friendly? Shady?
- What are the amenities like? grills? a playground? bathrooms? historic monuments with tours?
These are just some questions I have when I start looking into a new destination to explore, but I haven't been able to find one place to go to to have these questions answered. That's why I want to use this blog to give a real and personal account of these locations.
But don't be mistaken, this blog isn't just about reviews of the physical locations. Oh no.
I've been a casual explorer for a few years now but that doesn't mean I know everything. As I learn new things and hone in on my exploration skills, I want to use this platform to share new tips/tricks, give reviews of new travel/hiking products, and so much more.
This is a fluid place where I can share freely, without the expectation of perfection.
Remember, exploration isn't about doing it "perfectly", it's about having fun!
So take this trip into Perpetual Grit with me and discover something new.
